Parents of Elementary and Early Teens
About our class
Welcome to the Parents of Elementary/Early Teens community! Typically, our group consists of parents with children up to about middle school. Trying to be the best parent that we can be is one of the common threads that bind our Life-stage Group together, as we share in the challenges and rewards that our children bring. Since many families have children whose ages span many years, we sometimes see people in our group “graduate” to the Parents of Teens and Young Adults class, but often people stay with our group base on the depth of the bonds with each other. On the other hand, people might want to attend our classes just because we are a fun bunch, or they are interested in the elective course we are studying. Bottom line . . . everyone is welcome! Please stop in any time. We meet in Fellowship Hall #2 (use the door nearest Poli Street) at 9:15 each Sunday morning.
Class Schedule
Fall 2007 (core course) September 16 until December 23
Servants of One Another: Learning from Jesus how to serve others in love.

Participants will understand what it means to be a servant of Christ, will feel encouraged by hearing about the ways others in the class and the church-at-large are serving Christ, and will respond to Christ’s call to serve others in specific ways as individuals and as a group.

Becoming a Sower
Course objective: to equip adults in the art of spiritual conversation as modeled by Jesus in the Gospel of John. The purpose of this course is an apprenticeship with Jesus in the art of spiritual conversation, with the Gospel of John as our “manual.” Participants will have the opportunity to share their initial fears and struggles regarding the idea of sharing Jesus with others, and wrestle with some common misconceptions about evangelism.

More than just a class
The whole point of building a class into a community is, well, community! As with all the other Life-stage groups, our connection with each other extends beyond an hour in class once a week. We regularly schedule “bridge” events, such as our recent BBQ at the park to bring together our families and deepen our friendships with each other, as well as with other invited friends that may be outside our church family. Each week we have the opportunity to share our real world blessings and burdens with the class, and are blessed knowing we are lifting each other up in prayer during the week. Sometimes the challenges of the week are made a little easier with the support of others in the same boat.
We hope you enjoy sharing our last class picnic through these pictures. The kids had a blast sliding down the grassy slope on ice blocks!
