Becoming a Student of God
Instructors:
Jim McClurkin - Jim McClurkin grew up in the San Fernando Valley and met his wife, Christine, at The Little Church of Sherman Oaks. The McClurkins have been married for forty-four years. They have two married daughters and two grandsons.
Jim graduated from Westmont College and has earned two master's degrees from Fuller Theological Seminary, an M.A. from UCSB in religious studies, and an M.A. in counseling and guidance from Cal Poly, SLO. He has served in two churches as a Christian education director. Then he started and ran a Christian bookstore. Afterwards he spent a good deal of his career in various forms of social service. For several years he also taught the Bible as literature at Hancock College in Santa Maria.
Over the years Jim has taught adult courses in church on the Bible. He is an elder and a Stephen Ministry caregiver at CPC. On the presbytery level Jim serves on the Committee on Ministry and has been an elder commissioner to the General Assembly of the PC(USA).
